FWIW, interesting piece in the LA Times the other day. Some crazy anal retentive man named Eallanardo is suing MGM over their widescreen DVD's (1.85 to 1 and 1.66 to 1 screen ratios) that purportedly showed more image width than their "standard screen" DVD's.
So if you dig out your DVD's from Dec 98 til Sep 03, and if the settlement is approved, you can exchange your eligible DVD's for $7.10 or exchange them for one from a list of 325 titles.
I'm sure in the near future some SOB will sue because he/she didn't know that a menu existed for DVD players and that his picture was distorted due to the fact that his player was set to 4x3 on his bitchin 16x9 plasma tv for over 5 years, or even better that his player was not set for Dolby Digital bitstream output and that he has only been listening to pro logic.
