Does anyone know if the Denon DVD-3910 and the Onkyo DV-CP802 have discrete codes?

I can almost guarantee they do. Denon always uses discretes for its DVD players. Pretty sure Onkyo does too.

I emailed Onkyo and this what they had to say:

"Thank You for contacting Onkyo USA Product Support.
The power button is a toggle there is no discrete on/off.
Again, thank you for contacting Onkyo USA Product Support,
if you need further Assistance feel free to call us at 800-229-1687"

I didn't waste my time trying to contact Denon. I'd be waiting weeks for a response back. Maybe never!

like Denon products but there response time to general or technical questions is unacceptable!

Odd. My Onkyo receiver is discrete. I'm pretty sure about the 3910, though. Denon knows and responds to its customers wishes (in terms of features in products) better than any company I've seen.

The Onkyo DV-CP802 DOES have discrete codes for On/Off and direct disc access, Onkyo support does not know what they're talking about (I've gotten that impression talking to them before.) I own the DV-cp802.

Their remote itself has buttons for ON and STANDBY(same as OFF), plus direct disc access buttons.

Too bad Denon has not come out with a universal changer, as that's what I would have preferred. The Onkyo has been a very good player, however.

Does anyone know how to get the DV-CP802 to play in a random mode where it doesn't repeat songs it's already played? I love this player but have been disappointed in its random play modes because of the repeats.

I have the 3910. Denon 3910 has discrete on and off commands. Their setup menu is also designed such that it's readily possible to create Pronto macros to change setup menu settings (such as Squeeze on and off).

I am interested in the DVCP802 by Onkyo. Could someone please post a review on this DVD player? Blinky's mention of repeating the same song during random play has me worried. I must have a good shuffle feature on a player.

Then you better get a CDp, not a DVDp.
