What are the possible causes of dvd movies intermittingly freezing and/or the color totally pixalating so you can't see the picture (audio is fine) while playing using a dvd/vcr combo unit? It happens on all dvds , usually at the beginning of the movie-any ideas?-thank you-jerry

First thing I would try is cleaning the disk. We bought our daughter lots of Disney DVDs after we got our player. Three out of four of the DVDs would skip chapters fresh out of the sealed case. I bought a CD/DVD cleaning cloth and now clean every DVD after I purchase it. Have had no problems.
This might help you and might not, but can't hurt.
