Been considering getting a dvd recorder to replace my vcr but haven't found any good sites reviewing these machines. Anyone have any ideas or sites? I don't need one that has Tivo; I just want to record easily to DVD+ or DVD- R/RW type disks.

This is an old thread, but I'd add www.hometheaterspot.com too - my first stop for any Home Theater feedback/advice.

i need comments on LITEON dvd recorder.

As it's said that the LVW-5001 has the LSI chipset to enable itself as the easy-go and seldom-return in Walmart among all the brands, I still want to be convinced that this time it's relly strong in its chipset, not like its LV-2001 stronger in firmware.

Where's the newest page on this?

I dont know about LiteON DVD burners, but my 1 month experience with a LiteON CD burner was not very impressive. I have been told that LiteON is basically the junk at the end of the assembly line by a friend and I do not doubt it.

Also, for reviews I like Tom's Hardware "[Link: tomshardware.com]".
I have had no problems with the Philips DVDRW416 that is in the review.
