Do yourself a favor. Next time pay a little extra for the better unit (Sony, Pioneer, etc...). Sylvania makes great light bulbs, I have a bunch in my house.

We're just using it in our bedroom and it doesn't get used often. It was a choice of buying a VCR only or going for the combination

Oh so it's being used for "those" types of movies. I could see how lip synch issues could get anoying.

I can put a happy ending to this thread! I called Funai Corp. (parent of Sylvania) customer support. They said I needed a "software upgrade". They paid shipping both ways and did the upgrade, even though I had not registered the player and didn't have the receipt. Not bad for a light bulb company!
