I know all the 'Superbit' DVD's are superior quality, but what are some other DVD's that really make you want to watch DVD's on a really good system? Which ones really harness the DVD format in all its glory...movie titles would be helpful. Thanks.

Shrek and Monsters, Inc. come to mind.

I know you weren't looking for animated titles, but they have great pictures, at least on my M-8000.

Monsters Inc, for sure. My wife now shows her friends the outstanding picture on our new Sony 57 ws700.
Now she doesnt say "its just a TV how much better can it get" Maybe I should have bought a plasma!
I havent seen HD on it yet though.

Three live-action movies that I think have stunning picture quality are Contact, Bicentennial Man and The Mothman Prophecies.

Dale Crawford

Moulin Rouge and the Fifth Element are usually used along with Monsters and Toy Story 2 by most people. Even pros.

How does one rate quality? I go by use of surround sound and subwoofer (DTS, 5.1), visual quality (color, dynamics), effects quality (CGI, although that's more along the lines of movie, not DVD quality), and then there's my personal favorite- extras such as deleted scenes, easter eggs, making-of, out takes, etc...

I have way too many favorites, but some that come to mind (not counting those that have already been lsited)... Dune (director's cut), The Matrix, Ice Age, Blade 1&2, any of the Jurrasic Park flicks, Lord of the Rings, xXx, any James Bond movie.. too many to list.

I started a thread on another sub here about best DVDs to show off your home theater, be sure to check it out: [Link: remotecentral.com]
