I am thinking of buying a cheap progessive scan DVD player from Ebay to get me by for a few months until I can afford a mega changer. There are so many PS units selling well under $50.00, I don't know what to choose.
Some recently sold were:
Memorex Progressive Scan DVD Player MVD2028 $28.00 JVC XV-S502SL PROGRESSIVE SCAN $39.00 Toshiba SDK700 Progressive Scan $58.00 Toshiba SD3701 Progressive Scan $35.00
You get the picture. There are lots more in this range.
Can anyone suggest some good solid models? Some facts and requirements:
I have a 36" Direct View Toshiba HDTV capable tv.
CD-R, capability a must, MP3 a bonus
Single disk is fine, multi disk would be nice
Are there models that are better than others for playing scratched/less-than-perfect DVDs?
Thanks much for your help,

Because as you mentioned on your post you need to use a progressive scan DVD player for a short time. Choose the cheapest DVD P.S. you can find, and it will be just fine especially with component cables. Mister. T

I bought a new Apex AD-800 at Sam's Club for $80 and have it connected with component cables to a Hitachi HDTV ready 32UDX10S. The Apex is a single disc but will play MP3, CD-R, Kodak picture, etc. and the picture is fantastic. I could have spent more money but am very pleased with the Apex until like you I can afford the mega changer.

Why be choosy when you're going so cheap? If you can afford a direct-view HDTV, you can sink a few extra bucks into a decent DVD player with a warranty, I should think... Anything used thru ebay is a risk, especially electronics.
