I noticed the thread about DVD Profiler and the cuecat barcode scanner my question is where can a person get another type of barcode scanner that will work with DVD Profiler and be inexpensive? I had the cuecat at one time but it seemed to wreck havoc with some of my programs that were on my computer at the time. I realize the cuecat was free from Radio Shack but it just wouldn't work very well on my computer.

If you still have it, it will work fine. Just do NOT use any of the software that came with it. That is what messed up your system. Not the scanner itself

You can pick up a cuecat on ebay pretty cheap, if you don't have yours anymore.

You can also get cuecats from www.allelectronics.com
$12 for the USB version, part# cue-1. And $8 for the PS/2 version, part # cue-2.

They also have a Panasonic bar code scanner for $8.50, part # BCS-84. BUT this one only has a 4 pin molex connector, so it will not just hook up to a PC the way it is sold. You would have to "make" it work in some way.

" Panasonic # ZE-84TWM1FD. Hand-held bar code scanner. Reads JAN, UPC codes as WPC symbols and NW-7, CODE 39, ITF and CODE 128 as industrial symbols. Asynchronous serial communication interface. Operates on 5 Vdc. Ergonomic black plastic case, 7" long x 3.55" x 2.75." 6" four-conductor cord w/ four-pin Molex connector. Removed from new equipment in excellent condition. Includes spec/ hook-up sheet."
