Here are a few places to look.

[Link: cuecatastrophe.com]

And there are many, many more. For drivers to use with the CueCat scanner. But for me I just have the "Catnip" program loaded before I run DVD profiler, and it just works without having to add anything else.

okay i have the catnip software going, but when i scan a barcode dvdprofiler says that the upc code is not a recognized code. do i have to set up some parameters in the catnip software to get it only to read the 10 digit code?

More to come....
Almost all DVDs use only 10 digits even though they have 12.
You need to throw out the first and last digit.
But some DVDs will also need all 12 (very few though), I had maybe 1 that needed all 12 numbers before it would show the movie title.

OK, I dug into it a bit more now.
In catnip make a profile call it DVDpro, or whatever you wish. Then the program will run with those settings/filters you make.

For scan type, put in "UPA". Then for a filter put in -++++++++++- (the 10 +'s will end up being the numbers that are scanned to the program, and the -'s will be the ones thrown out. The first and last. Then click on the "save scan" button. Now your cuecat will throw out the first number, scan the next ten, and throw out the last number.

So for a wrap up....
Start the catnip program. And on the main program page for settings set output type for "data". Terminator "none".
Then go to catnip profiles. Pick, Add profile (name it whatever you wish) For the scan type selection use "UPA". For the filter use -++++++++++- and then click on, the save scan, box. Then you will see the scan type "UPA" info transfer over into the scan box on the left. And it should just show UPA. And that's it, your done. Now every time you startup the catnip program, it will use the settings you have saved a profile for. So you only need to make the profile just one time, after that it will run with those setting everytime you load it.
You also do not need to put any info in the other boxes (program or URL, or in the parameters box)

ALSO, you WILL run across DVDs where "UPA" is NOT the right type of scan code, like I did with the Van Wilder DVD. It was shown as being a "UA2" scan code in catnip. When you get other types of scan/bar code types, just ADD them into the profile and save it again. It will now have added in another scan/bar type into the box on the left. You will need to do that for every new type of bar code it comes across. So much for the UPC on a DVD being a standard of any sort.....

BTW:
I did get the built in scan plugin in to work, after playing with all this. And it sucked. Once you get the catnip program setup with the filters to work. It's much better then the plugin program is. As you must run the plugin again and again for every single entry. But when the catnip when loaded runs in the backround. Without having to start it over and over like the plugin.

thank you all for your replies - i am now getting it to scan, but im learning that the cat is not the best scanner in the world and has trouble reading through the plastic covers that some dvd cases have. So until i can find a new scanner i think i will be much faster at typing them in.....

Well, you can't beat the price of the cuecat. I got two of them when Radio Shack was giving them out free. I've only had maybe 10 out of over 250 DVD's where it would not read through the plastic. And that may be a problem for other scanners as well. Like I say for the price you can't beat the cuecat, and it still beats entering in the info by hand.
