Hi!
I have a new Sony PFM42B2 plasma and a JVC DVD with progressive scan. I watched The Mommy and it worked great. Then I placed the Harry Potter DVD and in some scenes -tracks- the picture quality would change. From great contrast, black images to a soft less black. I tried it in my bedroom set up... a Sony 27 TV and a Yamaha DVD player connected via svideo. The same thing happened in the same tracks. So, is this DVD crap or what?
Willy.

I would say it's Macrovision. Are you running it through a VCR?

NO. The same thing happens in a normal TV (via svideo) and in the Plasma (via component). Also I tried the disc in a PC and the same thing (in the same scenes) happens.
I don't think this is macrovision... Do you have this DVD? Maybe you can try... When harry goes to buy the wand... Inside the store the first scene is soft and then the next is with high contrast, perfect.
