Hello all- love this site- just found it yesterday and today I have a problem- hope you can help!

My son has a tv/ vcr combo in his room. Just got him an XBOX for his birthday. It runs through a selector switch (used for PS, N64, Xbox selection) to a modulator up to the tv/ vcr combo. Games work fine, but dvd through the xbox is bad. I think its the copy protection. How do I fix this? Do I need to crack open the tv/ vcr combo to connect this junk after the vcr part ( maybe with a AB switch to bypass the internal vcr?)?? Any ideas would be helpful. I would hope I dont need to buy a new tv w/out the vcr or an expensive stabilizer box.

Thanks for your help

This is a universal problem with VCR combo units. Bad idea on cracking the set. You need a macrovision defeater. I'd recommend this one or better: [Link: simacorp.com]

I saw this one at Best Buy for $50 last time I wandered through.
