Saw a product description for the CX850D, a 200 DVD/CD changer at the Sony site. MSRP $799! Quite a bit cheaper than the $1k that was 1st reported. Component video output, coax, optical & analog 5.1 audio output. Just what I've been looking for. Plus PC keyboard input & title display on it's 2 way remote and on the TV! Guess I won't get that Pronto after all. Now to find one.

I love this site. Info, help, and now true savings.

Barry, thanks so much for your post, you and 2 toll free calls saved me $195. Here's a tip, to get the free shipping, you must tell them you saw the free shipping offer on their web site.

Has anyone figured out how to power the CX850D on without it automatically playing a disc.

John B,

I owned both the Sony 850D-200 disc DVD changer and a Pronto. Trust me, you'll still need the Pronto...

In case you're wondering, the Sony is great!!!. But Pronto is still king!!!

LRV,

Check out the other thread about bugs with this Sony 2000 DVD Changer and the work around for it.

John B,

With the help of Pronto, it can make a lot of things easier especially with this DVD Changer.

Hi all,

Picked up my CX850D yesterday ($679 at Home Theater Store, Houston) and just wanted to mention 2 things...

No 2-way remote with title-view. (semi-)standard remote with Sony mega-control for those of you with Sony TV's

You can stop autoplay by going into Set-Up. The option is on the first screen: Custom Setup\Autoplay set it to Off.

BTW, this thing is awesome, but be prepared to be teased about it from jealous friends and family! ;-)

It depends on how you define "SLOW". I find the speed is okay. However, my new CD Changer (Sony CDP-CX350) is "TOO SLOW" compared to my old 200 CD Changer. I think they modified the mechanism so the operation is not as loud, but very slow.

My (dvpcx850) arrived tuesday. I'm very happy,It took a couple of hours to title all of my dvd's/cd's. Two cd's will not play. They played in my old sony cd changer. The speed is ok!

Bought mine last week at Tweeter's. They gave me a full refund for my 330, but did pay top dollar for the 850.

Let's talk about the title feature. Can only get it to recognize cd and dvd. No other information is shown. Some discs are old but my copy of Apollo 13 is brand new. Any tricks to it?

So far I'm really happy with it. Warning to future buyers: It is over 19" deep, plus wires, so it takes a lot of space on your component rack.

Did'nt have to reprogram my remotes though!

Larry,

Thanks for the tip about Soundcity.com. Got mine for $599.00 + $25.00 s+h (to California).

I tried CameraWorld.com...Sales Rep said they don't carry any more! (I think he was a rookie!)

I tried Supremevideo.com and they quoted $799.00!

I'll keep you posted

Gary
