DVP- CX860
Sony 300+1 DVD/CD changer

Ok… Here is my dilemma!

I have owned this changer for almost a year now and I love the thing. Holds all of my discs and I am able to view them on screen, rather than having to sort thru a shitload of cases to see what I want to watch.
However when I want to select a disc from the “ALL” menu after powering on the unit, the disk carriage makes it’s complete rotation then automatically plays the first “FRIGGIN” disk every dam time. Then I have to stop the disk and press the “ALL” button again. Ughhh!!
I have been thru the manual front to back and have tried all kinds of shit! For some reason I just can’t seem to get this feature off. If this is a preset feature and can’t be shut off. Who ever thought of that idea for a jukebox should be fired!

I know there has to be a way to stop this can anyone help! PLEASE!!!!

Thanks in advance!

The Autoload "feature" cannot be turned off. Or in the words of a Sony help line person "That's just the way it works". Clearly the most irritating feature ever introduced. I believe the people that decided this was a feature should be punished by forcing them to use this machine for the rest of their life. Just make sure you have a Disc in slot #1 that can be stopped without suffering thru the FBI warning screens.

Wanting to program a macro for my CX870D in the AV2100 remote, I finally found a reasonable solution:

With the unit in 'standby' mode, turn on the power by pressing the 'load' button on the remote. It will then do the usual system checks for 8 to 10 seconds.

Do not press any key on the remote (including 'stop') during this time.

As soon as the display indicates 'loading', press the stop button (or maybe 'DVD All' in your case).

It sure is nice to have the remote do all the work.

Thanks for the info guy's!

I just bought a pronto remote, so I may tire to set up a macro for this tonight. If that dosen't work out to my liking I just might be in the market for a new jukebox DVD player!

Any suggestions on a good model that dosen't have the autoplay feature?

I just bought a cx860 and immediately became aware of this quirk. I decided the best thing to do is just leave the player on.

Any reason why not?

Not really. Just about every electronic component that has "ON/STANDBY", or an electronic as opposed to a mechanical switch, keeps the power supply powered so the switching circuit has power.

In fact, my pre-pro (B&K AVP-4090) even feeds audio and video through when it's turned off. It seems that the display (and various switching) is what is turned off with the power button.

I leave my DVD player on all the time in standy mode. That's what it's there for.

Greg, with the Sony DVp-CX860 that would trigger the annoying autoplay when going out of Standby - leaving it on (and I mean really ON) sounds like a good solution.

But I just noticed that someone posted a possible solution to our problems (set autoplay to "Demo1") - I'll try it tonight as soon as my wife gets off the TV...

I tried the "fix" posted elsewhere in this forum, but it didn't work on my machine :-(

Hmmmmmmm...... I wonder if they fixed the auto-play "feature" in the new Sony DVD jukebox mentioned in this thread.

This is probably the link Greg was trying to direct you to.

[Link: 63.224.30.26]

It is progressive and plays mp3's, I heard it will probably be out in June. I don't know about the auto play "feature".
