After my last post found a great site to tell you how to unlock all regions for most DVD players. Site is:

HK Take Control and Sammy 709 hack.
If you don't have an Awai remote handy, but have a HK Take Control, try this;
Go to add new devices*, choose *amplifier/reciever*, select *awai*, go through the routine of adding the device but only add the first of the five choices the remote gives you. Save the configuration but don't set it up as a proper device. Now go to your pc, plug in, and find the button on the new device that you have just created, marked *random*(rndm). This is the button that everyone is using to hack there machines and searching behind there sofas for lost awai remotes for. Now go back to the sammy, switch on, put a region 1 disc in, press *random* and the sammy will say *adjust* on its display. Press *play* eh, voila!
To lock this configuration in, go to the setup menu, choose *parental*, change the code to *1234*(it should have read *7777*) change the lock to *level 1* return to the film and switch off. Switch back on, put in a region 2 disc, change the *parental* code to *3521* change the lock to *unlocked*. Go back to the film, take it out, put in your region 1 film, enjoy. This does survive a standby off, don't need to switch off from the mains so haven't tried that. It has also disable the macrovision software as well. Backup tapes of my DVD’s, eh!!!
