We installed a Fujitsu 42" plasma hooked up to a Toshiba progressive scan DVD player with component video cables(BNC to RCA). When playing DVD's everything looks great except when there is a quick flash of white light or a very bright scene change. Then the monitor shows black and white diagonal lines(upper left to lower rigt) for just a split second, then the video returns to normal. Any ideas?

Does it do it with composite input? Possibly the Toshiba is overdriving the luminence line (Yb) into the Fujitsu. Hate to say it, but if it were me I'd be trying trial and error method. I've been doing this stuff for 30 years and I never stop learning that the fancier they (engineers) make the stuff, the less they know about compatability between brands.

It only does it on the Component input. We will be doing the trial and error method Friday, swapping players and cables. I just wanted some more ideas.
Thanks!

The same thing happened with a Sony 42b1 plasma with a JVC progressive scan DVD. Changed the plasma to a 42b2 and the effect is completly lost. All is perfect now. Still I watch some scenes with more contrast than others, only in Progressive scan mode.
