Out of everyone here on this board, who is a DISH retailer/installer?

We are but they have a major problem that prevents us from using them for many of our installations. You can't set up a single account for more than 6 receivers (but it's no problem with DirecTV). So if your customer wants more than 6 receivers they have to pay for two accounts at double the amount. This is idiotic to put it bluntly and they obviously don't want customers with lots of TV's.

I'm a Dish dealer as well. Wish they did'nt have so many different promos, it confuses the customer. Like when they want to do 2 or 3 HD receivers, and don't quite understand why they aren't gong to be only $50.00 installed like they saw in the Dish ad?

Well I decided to go ahead with DISH since DirecTV is requiring a store front. I have already sent my packet to Mid-State to get approved. What companies (if you dont mind sharing) are yall going through and how do you feel about the way they do business?

I am feeling a little skeptical about Mid-State..

Is there other distributors I could go with to become a retailer? Or can you work directly with DISH. I was just told to go with Mid-State..

I am a new installer in Ohio, and was wanting to get a DISH dealership, but Echostar told me I had to have a storefront. Is this correct or is there a distributor that I can go through? Thanks!

We were dealers for both Dish and DirecTV. Both companies have their many problems. We are no longer a dealer for DirecTV because of their policies, and have found that the equipment from DISH is not reliable, their cusromer support is pathetic, and the general engineering is illogical. We decided that we would rather work with DirecTV and not receive a commision than deal with DISH.

been a dish dealer for a while. applied for directv but our photos were out of sorts. directv seems easier to install and use. have found that dish is more advanced and truer to the sat buisness. seems like dish has better kickbacks but the promotions and the paper work suck. never really had a problem with payments though. as long as you follow the rules your alright. forget about getting them to do something against policy, heard their both up for sale?

Did you sign up with them directly through DISH or through Mid-state?

I had been a DirecTV dealer from way back when they first started. We actually had to activate the premium channels through USSB and some other company managed DTV's commissions...anyone remember that?
Anyway after about 5 years of dedicated service DTV decided to cancel about 5000 of thier installing dealers and in order to reapply they needed to fill out tons of paper work. It was tough to explain to my clients whose contracts included DirecTV that we were no longer a dealer and could not fullfill our agreement. It was hard to exlpain without looking bad. Also, and the real reason for thier cancellation of many accounts was the residule payments which were owed to me. I believe I was receiving $100 per month. It was figured by .50 per account for 5 years each. So a lot of money when multiplied by 5000 companies like ours.
So they Win. They keep our money, but I started referring the cable company, which isn't much better...but mostly, I try to stay out of that end of the business. I let the clients deal with the providers themselves. Then I go back to house and fix what the cable or sat guy screwed up.

Just my 2 cents.
