I'm the "someone" Jim is referring to. I'm in the Cincinnati area.
If you're a dealer, I'm willing to buy one with the right to return it within 30 days without a restocking fee. Or, I can make the modification and send it back with an amplified antenna so you can test it and report the results. I really have no need for the RFX6000 beyond working out the details for adding an external antenna connection. And I don't have a Pronto that does (native) RF so I can't test it myself.
I have no doubts about the antenna and wideband preamp but the RFX6000 itself needs to have a quality receiver with good out-of-band rejection or it will be overwhelmed by the increased signal strength from the preamp. I've successfully cascaded up to three amps for a total gain of 60dB with the RF receiver modules I use for X-10.
You can see a picture of the antenna here...
The antenna loops are about 8.5" in diameter for 418MHz. The preamp is in the base. It requires a 7.5-15VDC wall transformer. Use RG-58 between the antenna and receiver.
My e-mail address is in my profile.
