Has anybody sucessfully used the rs232 port on a sharpvision XVZ700U? I'm trying to interface via a Xantech IRS232 and having no luck. Any input re: pin configurations, return codes, tec. would be greatly appreciated.

You need to peruse the operating manual. Just because a plug fits a socket doesn't mean the same signal is used. One may be for video, while another may be for remote operation.

Craig,
You need to check the Sharp's Spec. to see what the baud rate is. The Xantech piece you are talking about has a max. baud rate of 4800. This is much to low for many products. Xantech is working on releasing a new model with higher rates. Infocus and Seleco projectors both have a baud rate of 19,200. I am not sure about the 7000. I have two of these in stock for the very reason you bought one. Good luck,

Sharp defaults to 9600,1,8,none. I have used them many times with Crestron and AMX with no problem at all. Codes are simple, feedback could be better. Pinout is typically a crossover, 2to3 3to2 and 5to5. Use the 9pin D to 8pin mini adapter that comes with the projector to clear up your confusion.
