8" steel posts, what to stick to them.

2 holes in the single arm mount. I could add a third hole.

Some sort of self tapping screw, but yanking the TV left and right over time, wondering if the torque will pull them loose over time.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Don't do that. It is going to wobble everywhere.
At best, you could drill in holes at the edge of either side, then do that top & bottom. But I would still not want to do it like that.

Get a pole strap with a bracket. That will give you a flat surface to mount to.
Something like this: [Link: penningerradio.com]
Get 2 of those, one for the top part of the mount and one for the bottom. That should easily hold up to a 55". Bigger than that and you might have to search for awhile to find something more heavy duty.

Next time you're driving, look at a traffic or light pole- they mount all kinds of things on these and none involves drilling holes into the pole, whether solid or pipe.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Can always sandwich unistrut on both sides and use all thread to connect them. Then nuts and bolts to attach your mount.

Tom, not sure if this went forward or not. But Altelix (one of my favorite outdoor enclosure suppliers) has just came out with a pole mount VESA bracket.
They say it will hold up to 45 lbs. And can get mounting straps to fit up to 13" poles.
There are mounting adapters online to go from VESA100 to VESA200 if needed.
This should work for up to a 55" easily. Possibly a 65" as well.

Do you have a specific part in mind? Because I went over that whole website and found nothing useful, to mount a TV with.
Best I came up with was hardware that would allow you to mount another pole to a pole. That would allow you to use a 1.5" NPT pole with a ceiling mount.

After I showed very little enthusiasm for the pole mount, they let me use a ceiling mount and attach it to a 6 x 12 beam overhead. Thank you for all of your input. I did learn that strapping to the pole rather than bolting to it would be most advisable. Many thanks!

That post was to give someone ideas and to make them see that something other than UniStrut is available for this.
