Hi All,

Got a spreadsheet from Sony Custom installer dept for the ES line, but its the ES models from 2009-10.

The 2010 ES model was STR-ZAxxxx

The 2023 ES line is STR AZxxxx

Called them back and told them this is for old ES line and certainly, many of the codes will still work but I am sure the new models have many new discreet codes for all of the new sound functions, Zone functions, etc.

They said this spreadsheet should work. Hmmm... Asked if they could escalate. Hmmm

Any ideas?

Thx DD

Is it practical for you to switch to IP commands?

Buzz, good thought. No, I am still using a non-IP remote system. Where are IP commands available for this new model?
Thx DD

I did a quick check on the SONY public site and no codes were listed.

Thanx for checking! Sony has a Installer phone line and in the past there were very good. But on Friday they don't have a new codeset. They sent me the one for the 10 year-old ES line which I am sure will be missing a slew of discreet codes for all of the newer features. I have another phone # to try on Monday, direct to the ES development team.

Thanks for expressing that discreetly, pesci....

Yeah, yeah....
discreet means carefully, cautiously, keeping the secrets in the family...
discrete means in separate units. When I scramble eggs, the eggs don't stay discrete for very long.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

My question is what are you missing? I'm not a fan of Sony receivers, but when I sell and program a universal remote for a client, I want it as basic and bulletproof as possible.

Is it for personal use? On a sidenote, I got my butt kicked doing a Pro Control with a Sony TV and old BD player the other day. Children, don't forget to bump your repeats to 3 on the Sony stuff or else it won't turn on or off. YMMV...

Sony receiver codes have not changed for many years. I like that about them.

The new AZ Series shares nothing with the old ES line. Dealing with a client now in which we replaced a dying marantz.
No IP/ RS232 nor IR codes from RTI database are working. This receiver has been out since spring. I am going over Wednesday with my IR learner to see if I can get volume / source working, which is all I need. 2hr round trips and no paid invoice because of this .
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

I've had no problem using Crestron and URC IR and 232 drivers for the ZA with the new AZ receivers
