I have to install a system. Customer purchased it.

It’s called the “High Performance” Starlink.

Square dish (not rectangular)

Comes with a power unit that connects in the middle between the dish and router.

I can’t seem to find how I’m supposed to connect this and also use the separate Ethernet adapter that they also purchased. Do I need to get a usb hub? Because there’s only one connection point on the SL router, that the power unit connects to.

Is there a Starlink forum that I should peruse?

I’ve done a few searches but there is so much noise on the web, it’s hard to find useful info.

I thought I’d start here first. I did a search on this forum but only found a few threads

The current plan on this is to feed out of the SL router to 6 Eero 6 access points (hard wired Ethernet)

The same ethernet adapter goes inline at the router side same as the smaller rectangular dish. I just did one a few months ago. Ethernet out to a router then switch and your on a wired network.

But the Ethernet adapter plugs into the same usb port as the dish power supply/block. I haven’t actually seen the Ethernet adapter yet but does it have a usb port to plug the dish power adapter into?

We install a few rectangular dishes today on a job. The dish plugs into Ethernet adaptor and adaptor into modem.
Ethernet adaptor goes inline.

we have done several of these on our boats.  after we do the initial setup on the dock to get things tested and updated, we remove the starlink router and come right out of the POE inserter into the boat's WAN port.  i've had several of the ethernet adapters that are supposed to connect to the starlink router fail or be dead out of the box, so i avoid installing them if possible.

So their router is not needed in the system? Looking at this as a possible backup for a few sites

I think the lower end models need it, and you are forced to use their crappy ethernet adapter if you want to use your own router with the system. the high performance models don't need it.

Is there an alternative Ethernet adapter to the Starlink unit? It’s just a usb to Ethernet adapter in the end, right? It does have a usb through put so it can patch between the router and square dish power box/module.

On this system I will be deploying (it’s a small 6 cabin vacation rental resort), the owner wants to use the SL router, disable the wireless, and have it feed 6 hard wired eero Pro 6 waps (one for every cabin), assign one of the eero units to be the eero controller, one ssid.

We also plan to put a small netgear 5 port Poe switch in every cabin so we are not using each eero as a 2 port switch (the cabins are daisy chained with Cat6 burial grade, not run in a star fashion from one cabin).

to my knowledge, only the Starlink provided crapdapter will work. since you are going to disable the starlink wifi anyway, just hook up an Eero to the starlink POE and set it up as the main router.  then you don't need to worry about the starlink router or the ethernet adapter.
