Has anyone had a problem with a Sonos Connect losing output level? Iwas contacted by a customer whose power amp wasn't turning on and when I checked it, there was no problem with a different source. I went to this house yesterday and I heard/saw the amp turn on, but there was barely any output, so we moved a different unit to that system and it works fine. Connected to the system that had the Connect which was moved, it still didn't have much output.

Obviously, anything can fail at any time, but I haven't seen many line-level devices do this unless it had physical controls and switches.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

yes we do alot of sonos install and we havce encountered the line out going bad. weak, crackly, or no output over time. if we can in that situation we switch to the digital out if not the use a D/A converter from digital out of sonos back into your amp or replace

low output from a Sonos is a complaint I hear. A line driver will solve the problem...

It's not that the level started out lower than needed, it was fine for years and recently dropped. Yesterday, it was actually intermittent as well as low.

Have seen very few Connects go bad. I may have seen that problem plus bad LAN ports. Is it possible the Volume Limit setting was turned down?

Who would have turned it down and if it was working well, why would they do this?

I might have the homeowner reset that unit and add it to the group again, just to see if it makes a difference.

Maybe the cat?

I have a customer who has a habit of falling into one-off problems that are hard to accept. I think that she 'strokes' the controllers and can enter menus and execute commands. The latest issue was caused by holding a Yamaha Scene button too long. This was after several years of successful use. I have since locked the Yamaha UI.

Never underestimate how people can screw themselves up.

I have seen so many times what happens when some people get flustered at something, and for some reason will just start randomly pushing buttons. They have no idea what they are doing, they just start changing everything. It's like watching a chimpanzee trying to operate a computer.

Makes you realize how little evolution has really come for some.

Even with all the dire warnings we hear, I am beginning to think that AI might not be such a bad thing after all.

I have prepared an official form number 20–23, "Application Form For Artificial Intelligence" for people who are severely lacking in Natural Intelligence.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

The problem with AI is dumb people will be using it and blindly accepting the results and the results will be manipulated by governments and hackers. This will get worse as we dumb down education. (Subjects banned, teachers leaving the profession, schools saving money by decreasing course diversity)

They don't have a cat and the kids are out of the house. They don't have a dog/cat door, either.

I doubt he lets anyone else have the password for setup. His wife wouldn't log in either- she just listens to whatever programs or channels she wants.

I've seen several Connects do this. Analog output dies, toslink works fine.

In one case, the toslink output died within a few months of the player loosing analog output. Others have been fine on the toslink output.
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

I received a screenshot from the client this AM- haven't seen this happen and just to reiterate- the signal from the Connect goes directly to the Parasound power amp, then to the Denon AVR via the Output jacks on the Parasound. It worked for many years, then suddenly dropped. He set it to 10 and now, it's working again. It had been set to level 2, when it should have stayed at level 10.
