Today we had a hell of a time getting a Sonos arc and an older playbar on a customers network. Finally I set it up with my phone under my account and it worked. Tried adding the customers iPhones to an existing system. Would not connect. Couldn’t find the Sonos system. Download speed at the arc is 171 mbps. Was on the phone with Sonos TS for hours. They made some changes in the Ubiquiti settings but still couldn’t connect S2 to the system. The modem is a Bell Hub Giga. Help please.

Do you have a UBQ router in between the modem and APs? I have done may systems with UBQ and Sonos and not had any issues. Does the home owner have "use local network" enabled on their phone? Stupid question but have run into this issue.

What if you setup a SSID specific for the sonos system?

If you see the playbar on your phone does it need a firmware update to get it to S2? What if you transfer the Sonos account to the customer?

There is a ubiquiti non managed switch going into the Bell router. Updated playbar firmware to current

Harvested the following from the Sonos community:
  1. Log into the UniFi controller.
  2. In the Settings tab, click WiFi
  3. Click WiFi under the Settings page
  4. Click on the network SSID. Note: if there are multiple SSIDs that the players and controllers connect to, the same will need to be done for each SSID.
  5. Scroll down to Advanced Configuration and set it to Manual
  6. Scroll down to Multicast Management and click on Show Options
  7. Disable the following options by unchecking the Enable option:
    • Multicast and Broadcast Control (blocks all multicast and broadcast for non-listed devices).
    • Multicast Enhancement (converts multicast to unicast when possible).
    • Client Device Isolation (prevents wireless client on the same AP from communicating with each other).
    • Proxy ARP (converts broadcast to unicast when possible).
  8. Click on the Apply Changes button at the bottom of the page.
  9. Once completed, allow up to a minute for the AP to provision (apply the settings) and restore online connection, then proceed to rebooting or regrouping the Sonos Players.

Also make sure that network permission is turned on for Sonos on the clients device.

Well guess what? Use local network wasn’t enabled. Turn it on and connected fine.
Thanks Paul

Has caught me a few times, now is one of the first things I check if a phone won't connect, especially if it is working on my own device.

sounds like one of those things that the mfr assumes should come out of the box turned off...
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I think this happens during initial set up of the Sonos app on the customer's phone when they don't agree to allow it's use on Local Network.

Its on the phone

iPhone: Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Local Network, enable/disable as you seem fit

You can also go into Settings, scroll down to the app and select it and turn ON/OFF local settings from there too
