Anyone ever used a ceiling mount for a 65 inch television that also telescopes up and down?

Not interested in a science project or zero review Amazon adventure. Something you have used that is sturdy.

Which company was based in Phoenix, Nexus 21? I would call them- lifting from above could use the same mechanism as pushing it up from below, it just requires adequate height above the mechanism & TV and some additional parts.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

We did a long time ago - it was made by Inca, I believe. It was big, heavy and honestly, pretty noisy. I'm hoping they would have refined things since then! That TV was a 55" I think, but bigger wouldn't have been as issue. That unit lowered down vertically. It didn't flip down. Straight up - so it used up a LOT of space up above. But we put that thing in more than 10 years ago and I still do work at that house - never had an issue with that unit.

The company we're using now for moving TVs, be it flip down or whatever, is Motivated Design out of Jupiter FL. They're a small outfit and they're pretty busy right now, but when we ordered a unit from them I went over and picked it up. Nice guys - gave us the whole tour of the place. Their main market is yachts, which is a major industry over there, so all their stuff is stainless or aluminum. Pricing is good as well, though going to be going up soon I'm told. Still *WAY* less than Future Automation, which IS an awesome company too. Just waaaaay expensive.

It sounds like this client is picturing a TV in an outdoor structure, with a bracket attached to an overhead beam, that he can just grab and pull down and push back up whenever he wants. Automation is probably not in their plans.

Update: I believe they are after the outdoor equivalent of what we used to put under kitchen cabinets, a mount that allows the TV to fold down and possibly rotate 90°.

Talk to Future Automation. They should be able to build something.

Ha... Never even thought about that.

However, we're not using automation with the Motivated Design units. OEM remotes and either voltage or optical sensors.

If you're familiar with 80/20 extruded Aluminum (https://8020.net), look at tslots.com- TSLOTS makes UMHW plastic 'linear bearings', that slide easily, but they can be made to resist enough to make raising & lowering the TV easy and in control. They and 80/20 have parts that can be used as the end stop. There are many ways to do this using round Aluminum tubing and plastic sleeves, too.

So I visited the project and got an update on what the client is after.

They have a nice view in the backyard, so want to be able to fold the TV up and out-of-the-way.  But then it needs to come down, and possibly rotate 90°. Kind of like we used to do under kitchen cabinets, but weatherproof and stronger for a 65" TV.

I saw a Future Automation solution that is probably five times the cost of the outdoor structure itself.

Appreciate your input here.
