Have a client ready for a new DTV installation. I know they have the HS17 with Genies OR HR54(s) with Genies option...
I believe you can have more than one HR54? if needed to get a total higher than the HS17?
I also think having the HR54 "may" be more reliable as you don't have the HS17 to rely on?
Not sure the best option to request

The client has the following:
Liv Rm TV- Can be a HR54, if needed (4K ability)
Kitchen- Can be a HR54 OR Genie
Guest- Mini Genie
Office- Mini Genie
MBR- Can be either HR54 or Genie
Media- Can be either HR54 OR Genie (4K ability)
Lower Guest- Mini Genie
+possibly add a wireless Genie for future Roof TV.......

What DTV receiver option would you choose for best reliability, etc???

I believe the "NEW AND IMPROVED" way DirecTV is pushing, is using the HS17 with the satellite Gemini boxes, which are similar to the DirecTV Stream Gemini boxes, but with different firmware. The Gemini is an Android OS box that runs the genie client software to allow it to connect to the HS17 over the network, wired or wifi. It also has the google play store to allow apps to be used for internet video streaming. I have not had my hands on one yet, so I cannot give any opinion on how it works. You used to be limited to 8 Genie Mini clients with the HS17. I do not think you are able to add more than one Genie (HR54 or HS17) on the same account.

If you want info, try contacting Solid Signal. They are knowledgable and will answer your questions. Trying to get info from who you get if you call DirecTV is a crapshoot. :)
