I know this is a feature you can get with the Ring/Nest/Arlo type DIY cameras.  I cannot say I have had a request for this before, but I did a consult the other day where the homeowner asked for some cameras outside and in the game room to watch on the kids, but added the request for 2-way audio....for monitoring, as well as, essentially, paging. They also want a doorbell camera, so something that will tie into the same UI/app makes sense here.

They are not that interested in having a NVR at this point, and probably no control system at this phase. Their priority at this time is the cameras. So I would like something that will work standalone, but will also tie in to either Elan or C4 at some future date (at least for video feeds).

Any ideas?

Some Axis models have two-way audio but I’ve only used them with Axis Camera Station (for PC). There’s a Camera Station app but I haven’t used it. Description says it will do 2-way audio. Not sure if the Elan or C4 drivers have hooks for 2-way audio.

Yeah some of the Panasonic Pro cameras we use have the same features, but it is not inexpensive, requires additional hardware and wiring, and is not anywhere near what I would consider "user-friendly". As far as I can see, no options exist with C4 or Elan to utilize this feature.

I am going to have to recommend Ring if they absolutely need the 2-way audio feature. Seems to be the best option....POE, outdoor rated, flexible mounting options, etc.

It just sucks that I have to go to a $200 DIY-centric product to get these features people are asking for. At least I can order Ring from the right place and get some free snacks. :)

I know hikvision has the cube camera that has 2 way features. It has a SD card slot for recording so no NVR is needed. I do not think it is outdoor rated but maybe they have another model that is.
