We just replaced the Marantz 6480 with a Pioneer HD 720 . The pioneer has a great picture but the Marantz blew it away!! But after 2 bad units in it was hard to persuade the customer to try another. I am using an HD satellite and a Marantz 300 disc dvd changer.

I'm surprised that you didn't find the picture quality of the Pioneer the equal or better of the Marantz. I would get a qualified service person to set up the set properly(ISF preferred)

Don't get me wrong the Pioneer has a great picture, My customer is extremely happy with it. Both set's were set up properly. We are an ISF trained dealer. The 6480 just seemed to have a more life like picture. It looked like you were looking out a 64 inch window on a beautiful day. The Marantz PV 6480 has 9 inch CRT's The Pioneer has 7 inch.

I have a Pioneer and just had an ISF calibration done. Picture is amazing ;)
The ISF guy told me for HD and DVD Pioneer is the way to go. I watch sat SD 90% of the time and maybe 10% HD. I guess he liked a couple other brands for SD but I am very happy.
