I just moved in a two story house and was wondering how to install rear in wall speakers. I know how to install them but the problem is running the wire from the receiver to the in wall speaker. How would this be done?
Thanks

Well... You just drill a hole in the second stud space over from the left there.... The pull the wire around that duct over there, and use that space there run the wire across the room, then ccut a single gane hole right there and pull the wire back up....

Seriously though.. Your asking a question that cant posibly be answered in an online forum..... People get paid lots of money to do Retro work..... Thats because it cant be learned.... All experience.... Every house is built a little differently and its our experience that gets the job done....

You also provided not nearly enough information for us to start suggesting posibilities....

Is it a single story home? Attic? Is If so, is the attic finished? Floored? How bout a Basement? Finished? If so, Drop Tile ot Drywall ceiling???

The house is a 2 story and I am trying to run the wire on the bottom story. I just don't know how to run the wire throught the wall across the front room because there is no crawl space. the second story is above it.

They you will need to do one of 2 things.....

Cut a whole bunch of holes in your walls and ceiling to run the wires through, then patch all the holes...

or Call a professional who will be able to cut fewer holes and can patch them when hes done, or arrange for another professional to patch them. There is no magic wire machine......

If you really dont want to spend the money or the added expense of drywall repairs, you should look into running the wire around the perimiter of the room, Several companies make ver nice molding that the wire can fit neatly into.... Or perhaps a Flat speaker wire you could even Skim coat then paint over.

Impaqt,

Who are you using for flat wire these days?

My first experience with it was about 5 years ago, and back then, I think it would have ended up far cheaper for the customer to have us cut/patche holes...

wire was VERY expesive, but worked very well!

Have you found affordable solutions for this yet? Everything I've seen is still pretty expensive...

drop me an e-mail

There is another Option. If the room is carpeted you can snake flat speaker Cable under the carpet to the other side of the room. Then get into the wall that way.

Boy I'd sure hope the carpet isn't glued down. They only time we ever see that is when the room is a basement and usually a rec room with industrial carpet. Now the Pad may have a little glue on it but they usually don't use enough to obstruct a carpet snake from running from one side of the room to the other.
