Are there any companys that make an enclosure for a LCD or DLP projector. I am going to put 2 In-Focus 4800's in a bar and I am worried about to much smoke.
Becides one a month min. of filter cleaning, what else can I do.
P.S. Thank you for the Sony code help, its been a long day.

Onetime,

Whatever you do in a bar enviroment, you're going to end up with ventilation issues. If you enclose the projectore completey, cleaning the filters will be the least of your problems, heat becoming the primary.

I did this same thing once, with some high velocity muffin fans, and it worked pretty well, and kept things clean and cool. What we did was cut a hole in the ceiling above the projetor, drew the cool(ish) air in the space there DOWN, through the projector enclosure (which we built out of plywood and plexiglass) and then another muffin fan blowing down out of the enclosure. We had no problems with heat, and the projector functioned fine with minimal maintance.

Try this link for some innovative cooling ideasa.

The last Bar I did had two Dreamvision white Magic projectors. At the time, they had the longest lamp life. After the first few months, the projectors were getting dirty. This happened even though they were cleaned and filters replaced once a month. The filters were also upgraded for smaller particle collection. I had in numerous cleaning bills refered to the fact that the bar needed to add some SMOKE_EATERS brand smoke filters and change the HVAC ventilation filters more often. OF course this did not get done. The Ventilation filter on the HVAC unit had almost 3/4" inch of crap on it the last time I was there. The owner did not want to box and ventilate to the outside, nor did he want to purchase smoke eaters. 1 and half years later the projectors died. Fans quit and the LCDs cooked. After being sent in for repair, the projectors were junk. IT turns out what really killed them was the popcorn machine. The oil smoke from the machine and the neglect of letting the popcorn burn got into the fans and covered the light engine completely. One unit had the lamp just replaced a month previous, and the unit melted together. $400 down the drain.
I feel so sorry for the people working there after seeing the filters. Two of the bar maids were pregnant at the time too. Still makes me sick to think of it.
I currently would not even work on another existing bar, possibly a new one being built to better standards.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
