We have carried the Madrigal IRIQ in the past, it did the job well, but is now discontinued. Now we have been selling Prontos, the Neo and 2000. The problem is that we have to buy from a distributor and our cost from the distributor is more than the landed cost from most internet companies!! To make some kind of profit we need to sell them at $599 in Canuck bucks. Long story short, anyone have good alternatives or know of a another source of Prontos in Canada so we can actually make some money on these things? Thanks in advance.

One thing might be to go with Marantz, they keep tighter control of inventory, and the price does not tend to drop much. But if you want touch screens at that price rangePronto and Marantz are your best bet. The other alternatives are the Harmony as mentioned above and the HTM remotes. But they are mostly push buttons

Are we going to start his conversation again? See this Thread [Link: remotecentral.com]There is no reason why a retailer/custom shop should attempt to compete with Online box movers.

This isn't exactly the same conversation, I would just like to have an accessory that I would like to add on to the sale that will actually be profitable. When even at 599 CDN I can't make a decent margin I want an alternative, we are in the business for several reasons, not the least of which is to make money.

Yes, it is the same conversation.
The point of that conversation was not to sell "Prontos" Sell the Concept, Service, and Programming. I have no problem getting retail plus programming on my remote control jobs.
The only remotes you are not going to find on the internet for cheap are the Marantz Models.

Impaqt,
I was just checking out the Little Guys web site. Why aren't you profiled on their web site (at least I don't see anyone named John)? What's wrong with those guys :-)?
