I was just installing a system that is using an rc5200 induring the process of programming the unit started to cycle through the rebooting screen and all it does now is go through the reboot screen then shut off over and over till the battery is pulled. The reset button does nothing and the the computer says that no device is connected when I hook it up. The actual ccf file is fine as I have loaded it on to another remote. Has anyone had this problem before or is this a send back to manufactuer problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

jc,

You're caught in a reboot loop, as if you didn't know ;-) Ususally it's caused when you cancel a download to the remote. To recover, you must reflash the firmware from TouchScreenSetup. This can take MANY attempts as you have to catch it at just the right time. You can also clear the problem using Windlows hyperterminal, see here: [Link: remotecentral.com].

We have this problem all the time and am looking for a less stressful experience. We timed the the firmware update just right and were up and running again. We were teaching Dish Network codes and if the remote did not like them. Death Loop. This was about 5 times on one job. The down loads were not interupted and the back light was not turning off in the download.

The absolute "best" way to get out of the continuous reboot loop is to use Tonto, available here: [Link: giantlaser.com]. It's a substitute for PE/TSS, and handles all versions of the remote except the 3000. It is also much more communications friendly than the original software.

It has an "undead" function that reloads the ccf and cures the continuous reboot loop on the first shot 99% of the time.
