Have an equipment rack built into a wall that faces perpendicular to the main seating area (had to be that way, no room for equipment). trouble is (obvious)equipment will not see remote. Is there anything out there that I can use to control my equipment so i don't have to get up and point the remotes at it?

Ditto Xantech. You can run the signal on phone wire, cable, even two-conductor wire if you have to (costs extra, but solves weird wiring limitation problems). Tech staff is excellent, will give you answers as soon as they can. About half the time you get to talk to them immediately, other times they have to call you back.
