I have two Hughes HDVR2 TIVO's which are situated in a phone closet. They are connected to stereo modulators and then combined to go down one coax to a TV which can then view either TIVO on two separate channels.

The problem is controlling the TIVOs. I have an IR blaster by the TV connected to some CAT5 running to the closet where emitters are attached to the TIVOs. I have a Pronto Pro with TIVO codes already installed.

According to TIVO I can set each unit with a different remote control code but how can I modify the ProntoPro IR codes to distinguish between the TIVOs?

Basically I need to know what the TIVO remote does to distinguish separate IR codes when it changes the TIVO remote code.

Change one to a different IR code by using the remote as instructed in the manual. Then, teach those commands to the Pronto. I currently have three Tivos in the same cabinet, each with its own codes, but at least two of them were learned to whichever universal remote I'm using.

for some reason my remotes have a sat/tv switch where the manual says there should be a dvr 1/2 switch.

do you by any chance have the IR codes in a file I could use?

Even if you had a different code file, you still need to setup one of the units to respond to it.

If you don't have the DVR button, go into DirecTv Central, then Messages and Setup, then System Information. Scroll down until you see "Remote Address" (which should indicate a default address of 0). Hold the PAUSE and DIRECTV buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the led on the remote lights up. Use the number pad to select a number between 1 and 9, then press the RIGHT arrow to send the code to the receiver. After a few seconds, the number you selected should then appear to the right of "Remote Address". Use the DIRECTV button to exit. Now, you can learn from that remote to the Pronto.
