I usually use Xantech for relaying IR to a closed door cabinet. With a plasma installation, the standard receiver gets too much interference.

Is the 490-90 or 780-90 "Plasma Friendly" receiver pretty trouble proof, or should I use another brand?

I am using a CHAD/Pronto for interface, so I can't afford it to miss commands, especially in a macro.

Many thanks!

Wow... This topic seems to come up ona regular basis... SUre would be nice if RemoteCentral had a Search Engine

Anyway..... I've heard the Xantech work very well, but are kinda steep price wise...

I've always had great results with the AudioPlex

Impaqt,
Does the AudioPlex work with Xantech PS, emitters, and connecting blocks, or does the whole setup need to be AudioPlex?

Audioplex will work with any IR System... I think it needs to be ordered special for Niles applications, but Xantech and Speakercraft pose no problems

See my thread about the problems I had with the Audioplex Stealth 4056 Plasmaproof receiver.

According to Matt at Audioplex, who seems to have answers to questions that he is reading from a book, so you can't really discuss the particulars with him, don't use Xantech blocks where the instructions say you can use Xantech blocks. Instead, run emitters in parallel with no resistors off the single-emitter output of the Audioplex box. Very confusing.

But it worked, except for one LED: the LED feeding IR to the Denon receiver would do everything except Power On and volume up and down. I moved that LED to the multi-LED output, put a 220 ohm resistor in series with it, and voila! Everything worked great!

Except the JVC CD changer ($160 7-disc carousel). Not a single IR command would go through the system.

Oh yeah -- also never use Blink IRs or dual IRs with the Audioplex.

At this point I think I will use the Audioplex again, but I sure see a lot of funky rules to follow, rules that fly in the face of theory,* to make it work.

*LEDs in parallel is a bad idea. If they do not all turn on at EXACTLY the same voltage, then only the lowest voltage one will turn on unless resistors are added in series to force sharing the current. But this worked with three LEDs in that setup. Hmmmmm.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
