Hey guys I just joined! I do some custom install work on the side and I am sure I have a lot to learn. I do have a question and have search all over this site with no luck. Here goes:

I have a somfy remote (S1rts) Telis - RF (Not IR) that controls a motorized shade. I called URC and they said the only way to make my MX980 work with this shade is to call comfy to obtain the Hex code. So I did. They said they do not give out these codes as they are proprietary. The comfy chronis comfort timer (wall mount RF) will also work with my shade.

Is there anyway to obtain the Hex code for this RF controler? I am totaly striking out. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome aboard! Nice to have you here.

I'll start by saying: "Wrong thread for questions, brother!"

Try starting a new one in the URC section under Custom Installation. All the URC folk will frequent it and be more likely to help you out..

Cheers,

Robbie.

I'm Mike from Chicago. I am a ci, I'm fairly new to this buisness but I've been in electronics for ten years (and still feel like I don't know anything sometimes). I got into remotes when my boss needed someone t program our first MX-980. Since then I've gotten familiar with many URC's products.

I love the latest home a/v and networking equipment, so it's great to intall some of the latest products out there (unfortunatly with a growing family I'm still in the 90's at my home :) We do a bit of everything: CCTV, security, lighting control, audio systems, entry control, all sorts of A/V, and of course custom remotes.

I'm a linux guy (ubuntu is my flavor since warty).
I also enjoy creating artwork for the remotes, it's a great touch to put pictures from the area around the customers house as "please wait" macros and our logo on help pages with out phone number.

Hey all!

My name is Mike Robinson. I am 23, and I work for a small A/V company in Vermont. I have been in the business for only three years, but it feels like I have been doing this my whole, short, life.

I always loved electronics. I especially loved music. Didn't matter what kind, as long as I could play it loud.

I originally got into car audio and video. I used to enter competitions, my best achievement was pulling down 3rd in my class. 157.6db in a Ford Explorer with two 10 year old Rockford subs and a beat up Wal-Mart amp. Funny thing was, everyone else in my class had a Civic. I was disqualified when I blew out a window. I was proud.

I made some rough looking (and even rougher sounding) speakers in my HS Jr Science class. Worked some odd jobs to pay the bills and to get customer skills. My father-in-law was working for a contractor who brought in an A/V guy. He was buy himself running wires and having a hard time. After two interviews, HERE I AM!

I love this industry, and most of all, you guys for helping me move from having a dead end job to having a career of opertunity.

Off to work now, hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season!

Best to all,
-Mike

HI,
Finally got around to introducing myself. My name is Tom and I am retired and living in Houston, TX. I am a long time actually starting with an Eico integrated amp and Garrand turntable a couple of speakers and a membership at Columbia records (get 6 free if you join the club). From there I moved into Home Theater in the 90s with a 60" Pioneer rear view projection TV (which still works today gave it to my brother-in-law).
I currently have a dedicated Home Theater room with a Sharp XV Z9000U DLP Projector a Sony DVD player a Rotel pre/pro an Adcom 5 channel amp and two Outlaw Model 200 amps and Definitive Technology speakers. I enjoy reading the comments of the members on the various subjects brought up on this forum and I have been helped on many occasions by the knowledgeable members when I have encountered problems.

Where to begin???
Im based in the North East Georgia area.
I was started into electrical design projects from a high voltage level ( 1K+).
I received an Industrial Electronics and Electrical degree. With a concentration mainly on automation and controls work as well as instrumentation.
I worked in industry as a class 1 electrician. Eventually I started doing some residential installations as well.
I finally worked long enough to sit for the State of Georgia Electrical contractors exam. I passed the High and Low voltage unrestricted license exams.
I contintue to do some industrial controls work, but im putting more emphasis on Home automation work. I enjoy doing lighting controls using Crestron or lutron. The use of a Universal Remote is what brings me to this site.
I enjoy doing audio and video applications also.
Myself and a group on integrators won a EH Mark of Excellence award in march 07' for a group project we did. We were awarded the best integrations award by integrating an automation controller for a ALS patient.
We automated his entire home via an LCD monitor and his eyes. With a retina ID system we allowed him to view his TV. surf the internet. control his HVAC,lighting and Audio/Video system, plus control his LIFE.
It was an amazing project to say the least. Having a parent who has MS it really took on a diffrent meaning for me to do this project and to see his life be so much better.
Im still learning more and more about the AV side of business and enjoy meeting new guys in the trade.
Please feel free to contact me. Im always eager to listen and learn.

Hola, my name is Jessie. I am an electrician and a senior alarm technician for so many years. After intalling my first home theater at my own house, I started having interest on A/V after intalling my first home theater at my own house. I am only doing this for less than a year, so I consider myself as a virgin on this field. I've just recently added an A/V distribution ( Russound CAM 6.6 w/ VM1) at my house and still kind of playing with it.

I am now seriously considering of switching to A/V and integration full time..

Hey Im Steve

Well I have been in the industry 8 years now, down here in SW Florida. The first 4 years were High End Resi, the rest has been Pro Sound. Crestron Certified 4 years ago, and have had my hands on just about every other remote out there. Have had to do pretty much everything at one point or another along the way. Voice, Data, Security, CCTV, Audio, Video, Automation.

Greetings,

I'm Jeff, and I'm a broadcast engineer for Newport Television's northeast regional group, headquartered in Syracuse New York. (Newport is the fairly new company formed when Clear Channel spun off its television division last year.) My title is Engineering Project Manager, which essentially makes me the in-house integrator for a handful of stations in Syracuse, Rochester, Albany, Watertown, Elmira, and Binghamton. I design control room and studio facilities, microwave and fiberoptic links, write software, and design custom audio, video, and control equipment. I also unplug the toilet when necessary. ;o)

I started when it was a single station -- then, WIXT-TV, now WSYR-TV -- and have stuck around as the group has grown and mutated for 27 years this year. Time flies when you're having fun!

Regards,
-- Jeff

I *once* managed to pull in WSYR-DT at 175 miles (I don't normally get much tropo reception at my location).
