has anyone had any luck eliminatting noise thats being brought in on sat feed---have 60" zenith plasma. i've narrowed it down to the cable and sat feeds. the cable was fixed with a simple ground lifter but the sat feed is stiil causing lines and shadowing--i've tried ferrite and i actually have the power company coming to fix the problem--however just wondering if anyone has found a lees dramatic solution than having the power co. tear up the street.

could be a bad connector somewhere...

undo all the connections and make sure the woven wires aren't touching the copper wire... i used to work with a guy who was notoriously bad about his connections.. i had to redo half of them!

Put the Plasma on the same power outlet as the equipment.

connections are fine--the sat is working on all three lnb's-the house has a neutral fault which is generating noise on all his equipment --i have monster clean power throughout the house which has taken care of all noise except the lines and shadowing on this plasma
i cant use the same outlet because the plasma is on the other side of the room.
alls well until i connect the cable feed and sat feed-like i said earlier the cable was an easy fix with a 5$ xantech ground lifter

Did you use a good quality Quad shield Coax to run from the satellite? It sounds like the cable is picking up interference somewhere in the run. If you didnt you might need to change to fix the problem.

The plasma doesn't have to be powered by the same outlet as the equipment, but if the equipment is on one leg and the plasma on the other leg it could cause a problem, just make sure that both outlets are powered by the same leg.

Try putting the sat receiver on a Panamax DBS-8 surge. That has helped me out in the past with such problems.

Try a cheater plug that will remove the ground terminal of the outlet.

chardero's suggestion is a good one for TEMPORARILY seeing if a ground loop is the problem. It is unsafe and illegal to do on a permanent basis.

Check the Jensen Transformer site for hum troubleshooting procedures -- Jim Whitlock over there is a wizard at describing just what steps to take to solve, not cheat, noise caused by ground issues.

I don't think a ground isolator could pass DC, because part of DC is a solid ground. However, if there is a ground isolator that will pass the high frequencies of satellite signals, these could be used with voltage injectors on the dish side of the isolator to restore the DC voltage. Not easy or cheap, but thorough.

I've always wondered how the through the glass sat install pieces would work for this sort of thing. Personally I consider plugging the Plasma into the same power distribution as the rest of the equipment to be a requirement. Just making sure that you are on the same leg doesn't mean that you don't have one hell of a ground loop depending on how the electrician ran the electric.

i don't think the problem is with the plasma outlet. if i remove the cable and sat feeds and just play a dvd there are no lines.

anyhow i've ordered some $480 component line filter that supposedly will remove the noise on the component feed from the equipment to the plasma.

will post the result.

Then I would guess that you don't understand ground loops. Please post the outcome for the rest of us but I doubt that piece will fix it.

What is a ground loop? I don't think many of us have a thorough understanding of what it is, common signs and common solutions.
