I am thinking about building a programable multi-remote for personal use as my school science project. I am still in the planning stages and I have been looking for similar projects from which I can get some inspiration. I think it would be nearly impossible to make the remote from scratch, so I would be grateful for any tips and links to remote control building sites.
At first I was planning to create a simple remote which can send information through an IR diode. Next step is creating a big bunch of buttons, maybe a A/B/C/D + 10 buttons. After that making a small memory (USB?) on which the "OS" is on and then trying create a program which can assign the buttons to different tasks.
Final step would be to make IR->RF RF->IR converters so I can use the remote wherever I am in my house.
So, does anyone have anything to contribute to my project? Sites where I can find good, cheap hardware. Anything that you think might help me is greatly approciated!
