Hi, An installer friend I used to work with puts in some Elan gear and I think I remember him telling me that distributors handle this (I don't have to go direct).
I have a client that may want more than a simple keypad system, so I need to find something for him.
Is this fairly straightforward to learn the programming? I've done lots of Prontos but that's about it at this point.
Appreciate your input, even other available brands that you would recommend. =Tom

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |

Elan has reduced their distribution a lot lately. Good product, but I would not recomend it for a spot application as I have run into several issues in the past.
Look at Niles 4630, and Russound.

If you are looking for whole house audio, the Niles 4630 is a great piece. 6 Zones, 4 sources(including a built in tuner), only a 2 gang wall space that will handle transport, direct # input, etc. Can't say enough good things about it.

Ditto on the Niles.

How hard can this be? |

Elan does have a somewhat new multi-zone amp the System 6. I could not tell you a whole lot about it but I have used the Russound and the Niles pieces with good success. You can get these through distribution also.

The Niles ZR4630 is a nice system if you want all zones to have the same programing. I have installed a few of them with no problems.
I have not worked with Russound prouducts.
If you want somethig with: --Zone specific programing --and/or local equipment control. --Paging and doorphones. --Video switching. Elan could work for you.

You have to have the Elan z090 programmer to program Elan keypads.

You really should use the Via!Tools for programming. The Z090 (which is no longer sold) is only good for the Z-series keypads and will not help with the Via panels. CJ On 05/14/03 22:17, Brady E said...
