I'm setting up a home theater in my basement and I was wondering What would be the best tv projector to buy for around $7000-$8000 and why? Also, what type of screen to get? I have been looking at the stewart firehawk(123")

It depends on what you mean by "best"? Best picture, easiest setup, light weight, etc. You don't want a gray screen if you go with a CRT projector. For the money you have to spend, you should ask around at the various display devices over at the AVS Forum. Larry www.fineelectricco.com

You really shouldnt decide on a screen until you have the projector selected. Personally, I dislike grey screens, but thats more of an opinion that anything. I'm a Matt White kinda guy....
Take a look at the Sharp 9000 This projector can be had now for around the price range you mentioned and it really out-performs all the "Mustang 2" chipped DLP projectors anywhere near your price range. Sharp even had a $1000 rebate going on the 9000's recently... Dunno if its still going or now... I know they extended it once.
