rule #1 give the customer what he asks for. end of story.

and dont spend your money, spend with your clients.....

if a customer wants to spend 7k on a speaker and 20k on
a sub..... i will find his a 7k speaker and a 20k sub.............

Ed, I totally agree with you on this. I've got nothing against putting a 50k system in a room like that. I'm just saying I would've tried to redirect(or added to the budget) some of that money into acoustical treatment, floor covering, etc. If I have clients that want to senselessly waste their money, though, fine by me.

Simon,

You are smart to take pics of all your work... we've dumbly only taken a few jobs. Now we sprung for small Canon 7.1 megapixel cameras and every installer has one. We've made it a requirement to take finshed job pics, pre-wire pics, etc.

This camera is barely over $200.00 US... you should snag one and keep it with you. Good work deserves a high res image!

Simon... I am really impressed by the esthtics of your companies installs. Everything I've seen from them have been very tasetfully done.

Still can't get over the coolness factor of the homes down there... I thought they'd be decked out with boomerangs, stuffed kangaroos and aboriginal artwork all over the place.

Seriously though, you are fortunate to be linked up in an outfit that is dialed into such nice projects...

Wait a minute!!! Did you say 16 Sonos Zones????? Was it pre-wired for the amps in various locations, or did they reside in one location? How may Sq. Ft. was the residence? Any problems with drop-out?

I'm working on cleaning up our equipment/storage room -- a tiny space that houses our technology alongside HVAC gear, tools, and misc. junk. Say goodbye to old computers and other equipment we just haven't been able to part with.

One day, I'll hire a pro to clean up the complete mess I've made of our structured wiring cabinet. (You couldn't pay me enough to post a picture).

While I tend to handle the mechanical/tech stuff in the house, my husband is in charge of anything gross or anything that has the potential to be gross. So our deal was that he had to empty out the entire room, and vacuum it out, ensuring there was nothing gross in there, and then I would put it back together again.

He cleared it out. Says there was nothing gross. Yeah, sure.

Nah! Thats just the homes of the Americans who have been here to visit.

It doesn't hurt the ego to be able to say this work is mine. Having said that i'm not so egotistical as to believe that it would all look as tidy without the contribution of other trades and big budget clients. It's just the market i work in and i work to an appropriate standard. Not that a lower budget gets a lower standard of work of course.

Wait a minute!!! Did you say 16 Sonos Zones????? Was it

Any problems with drop-out?

Yes we pre-wired for 16 zones in different locations although some areas have a few amps together.

Can't tell you the square footage, but quite big. Roughly 40 meters wide, 25 meters deep, 2 stories.

No drop outs as yet but Sonos was only completed yesterday.

Although theres lots of audio zones, this is still one of the smaller jobs.

You never know, i might pack up and move over there. Might end up working for one of you guys one day. The thought has crossed my mind once or twice.

Had a good day today, client bought me lunch, sashimi. Love Japanese food.
It was the same guy who owns the big Genelec system i showed previously. I'm still trying to sort out the mess that is his system (whole house).

BTW, didn't anyone do anything yesterday besides me? I'd like to see a few more of your pics too.

Simon
