I generally use a "System ON" button with Mits TV's. Then when the customer has a Picture up, they hit their "Watch TV, Watch DVD" buttons...... Allows the macros for source selection to be nice a short.

Yet another advantage of using a "centralized" controller, such as Crestron or AMX -- even an Ocelot could be used.
The controller "tracks" the TV's state (or preamp's, or projector's, or receiver's, etc.), and if it's already on, the input selection command is sent immediately. If it's off, the power on command is sent, then it waits X seconds, before sending the input command...
