Happy New Year to You all...

Any ideas how to discretely control the PS3 through TCP/IP?? We have the IR working so far but this lacks ONE major function after SONYs last firmware update: the PS3 doesn't power the USB ports after you placed it into standby - so you can't power it back up once you powered it down! Plus, IR is just IR...

Any ideas??

Hi Poojoe,
I own a PS3 are you at all able to control the PS3 with IR? If thougt it was a bluetooth connection they use.
If you have IR codes for the PS3 i would love to see them.

Check out www.schmartz.com for the PS3IR+PWR thing. Haven't received mine yet. I would prefer a TCPIP method as well.

Another innovative owner has come up with a modification of the official PS3 BD remote. Adds full IR control - so everything you can do with the BD remote you can do over IR, including power on and off, PS menu and all other advanced functions.

Interested in the IR->BT method as well. I've only seen reference to someone hacking one from the Sony remote and it didn't look like something I would have time to implement myself.

I too have a Philips remote (TSU9600) and would be interested in using RS232 or TCP/IP to control the PS3 if that's possible.
