Any word on if and when this remote will be upnp compatable?...not much more than a harmony without it.

Nope. And I would not hold my breath either. In none of the literature produced to date thus far, has upnp been mentioned. I don't think it's even on the horizon.

Hmm...that sucks. Nevo does it, and is best option out there. To see and select audio from pc when in a different room or outside by just using remote. Don't care about the pictures, but music is required.

And the built-in Escient Device. There's an add-on for MCE called PadOne that was given an initial review by Lowpro in this forum.
Personally, I have my own homebrew media player that serves up data using the Escient Protocol including jacket pics. I also have the same PC running Escient Fireball PC to serve up music to my Escient units in the house.

uPnP support (or lack of) is the only major issue I have with the 9600 so far...

I agree...instead of all the programmers re-inventing the wheel here. It would be dummy proof (for guys like me) to just have the unit upnp. Then...it would work with amazing products like Tversity...which is a free server; and therefore also a person would only need to run one server on the pc....the same one for the remote as for a upnp media server such as a d-link dsm-520
