EDIT: BOTH the TSU9600 and the RFX9400 have the latest firmware...

Some background
------------------------------------
Pronto TSU9600
RFX9400, set up in Stand Alone mode.

Connected the RFX9400 via the ethernet cable plugged into one of the vacant jacks on my WiFi router. Set with the following settings:
-WiFi
-SSID: "ProntoNetwork" (without the quote marks)
- Encryption: None
- IP Settings: DHCP
- Switches on the back are set to Stand Alone and 1, Extender 0

Disconnected the ethernet cable after configuring

On the pronto have set up in Stand Alone mode, Extender 0.

The problem is that it will not connect, says "Connecting" but never connects. Weird part is the Settings/Info page on the TSU9600 shows the SSID as:

"Pronto_Network_1" (without the quotes).

I think the mismatch between the SSID on the RFX9400 and the TSU9600 are why they are not connecting, correct?

I have tried re-uploading the configuration file to the TSU9600 to no avail. How do I get this solved?? ARGH!

If in Standalone mode (not Network Mode), ensure that the TSU9600 and the RFX9400 are using the same SSID. Ensure that you configured the RFX9400 for Standalone mode vs Network mode as well.

Note that the RFX9400 acts as a Router in Standalone mode and therefore the SSIDs must match.

Yes, both the TSU9600 and the RFX9400 are set up for Stand Alone mode. The SSID in the RFX9400 is set to be "ProntoNetwork". There is not a way, when the TSU9600 is configured for Stand Alone mode, to set the SSID in it. When viewing the Settings/Info data on the TSU9600 it shows the SSID as "Pronto_Network_1". Of course since this does not match they do not connect. I have tried setting the SSID on the RFX9400 to "Pronto_Network_1" to no avail. Every now and then (though EXTREMELY rare) the TSU9600 will connect to the RFX9400 then loses it when a config file is uploaded to it.

I am at the point where I would be willing to pay someone to get this working! Anyone? Be glad to send screenshots, config files, etc.

Did you try to put the TSU9600 into Network Mode, change the SSID to "ProntoNetwork" then put the Pronto back into Stand Alone Mode? What does the TSU9600 SSID become if you do?

Yes, been there done that.. no effect. Called Phillips tech support, went through every possible change to no effect. Ended up sending to Service Wide Tech today, nice folks. Said it sounded like the RFX was toast and after they received they would verify and then send a new one out to me. Fingers crossed..

First I recommend updating the extender and remote with the latest firmware available for each. As for configuring each for Stand Alone mode. See below.

The configuration settings available when http'ing into the RFX9400 do not apply when the RFX9400 is set to Stand Alone mode. Doesn't matter what you set them to. Simply set the switch on the back of the RFX9400 to Stand Alone versus Network. The same applies with respects to your configuration file for the Pronto. The "WiFi Settings" and "IP Settings" sections found under the "System Properties\Wireless Settings" tab do not apply when running the TSU9600 in Stand Alone mode. Simply choose the options, "Enable Wireless on Pronto Control Panel" and "with Wireless Extender(s) in Stand Alone Mode".

There is nothing else to configure here. In Stand Alone mode the settings used by the Pronto and Extender are hard coded. You only need to make sure each are in Stand Alone mode. That being said, you do need to make sure that the Pronto and extender are set to the same Pronto Channel. By default each should already be set to 1. You set the channel for the Pronto in your configuration file via the "System Properties\Wireless Settings" tab. You set the channel for the RFX9400 via the back of the unit.

Thanks Lowpro, did all that you suggest and still no success. I can only ascertain that the RFX9400 or the TSU9600 have a fault. This conclusion is based on this as well as the TSU9600 locks up frequently when rebooting. Additionally they were working fine until one day the TSU9600 locked up. Hopefully the service company will find a solution.

Hi,
In standalone mode you will need to put the switches on the RFX to "Stand alone" and "1" (in your case, since the TSU uses Pronto_Network_1).
You do not need to go into settings of the RFX, this is used for network mode only.

Then make sure that the ID (rotary switch on the RFX) matches the ID set in the Pronto editor and you are good to go.

Hardware failure would be my conclusion as well.

WOO HOO! SUCCESS!

Send the TSU9600 and RFX9400 in next day air on Monday, received by Service Wide on Tuesday, they call, indeed (AS I TOLD THEM THE FIRST TIME I shipped it to them a couple weeks ago) there was a failure. Very nice on the phone, I paid for next day shipping back and received this morning. Notes inside indicate they replaced a control board on the TSU9600. Plugged in, charged up and upon start there was a diagnostics program running which stepped through testing connectivity to the RFX9400. Weird, so went through it and all tested fine. Uploaded my configuration file and -VIOLA!- all is good again...

Still, a little peeved that it took me sending it to them TWICE and then even after they admitted they missed it the first time sending it back was on my nickel... Oh well, all is well that ends well. Wife unit should be happier now that a simple volume or channel changes does not require getting up, walking to the closet where the equipment is stored, locating the remote, etc., etc.
