I don't know if anyone has tried this or know how it would work but I am trying to get my Pronto RFX9600 to send serial commands to a com port on my PC and for the PC to relay those commands to an audio device via another com port. I've tried using a null modem cable as well as a serial cable with a gender changer but the PC does not seem to be receiving any commands from the RFX9600. I have tested the cables, the serial port on the RFX9600 as well as my PC com ports. They all work independently but for some reason when I send commands that should be coming out of the RFX9600 port, the PC does not pick it up.

RFX9600 communicates normally with a PC.

Use Br@y's terminal to see that the communication works. Maybe you have not configured the PC com port to work with the RFX. I meand the handshaking and stuff.

I want the RFX to send commands to the PC which will then read it on one com port and relay it to another com port. The reason I am doing this is because I am writing a program that will also control this piece of equipment and it only has one com port. Since you can't send commands to the RFX, this is the only method I can think of to allow the RFX and my PC to control this device.

Why not communicate to the PC via IP?

You can with a bit of know how use one seial port to send to 2 others, only one device will be 2 way and the other one way..

Or

Use 2 seial device to control one device with a serial port..

you just need to use signal Diodes IN1418 in the right TX or RX connection ..

take a look at RS232 sniffer on Google and im sure your work it out :)

BluPhenix, thanks for the suggestion on br@y's. I was able to confirm that the ports are working ok. I guess I must have screwed something up with my VB program since one com ports reads and writes fine but the com port connected to my audio equipment with a null cable doesn't read and write correctly although it shows up when using Br@y's. I should have enough to do on right now.
