I have encountered a problem with TSU 9400:

After inserting a background from the gallery (say, grey gradient) into the system background page it shows ok in the editor and in the simulator (PEP2) but not on the remote.

What am I doing wrong?

I found a thread here where the problem was similar - but in that thread the background was not even showing in the simulator. Im my case it does.

What can I try to sort it out? Would appreciate advice.

Ensure the version of the firmware you have on remote is up to date.

Change your image to slightly add a bit of noise and see if that fixes the issue.

Could you post links where others could see? The Editor Image screen print and the Image file itself? You cannot post directly to this site but you could use any free photoshare site or Mediafire.

Try to install it as a panel instead of a background over a white panel and take a look.
You said it was a gradient. Some gradients can go from transparent to a color.
If the color on the system background was black the gradient might not be visible.
If the gradient is a PNG file, you can reopen the gradient in a image editor like MS Paint and save it as a Jpeg or Bitmap. That way there is no transparency.
Project Boredom 2 is here. [Link: mediafire.com]

For my comments and better explanation of why I suggest noise, search this forum for "Frank Armand" and review the threads other than this one (there should be 1 unique thread that discusses original image problem that may be relevant based on my post above.

Hmmm...
Read the original thread, tried adding noise. Did not work. the original thread I understand is about overcoming blocking problem or similar with newly created backgrounds.

All I am trying to do is to use the native gallery background from PEP2 and it is not visible on the remote, although is visible in simulator and pep2 editing window...

Edit: tried inserting the background as a panel into the system page and it worked!

Thank you, guys!

If you are attempting to use Activity Background in PEP2, you must have correct firmware in place.

I had a problem with an JPEG file that I use as a background. After converting it to BMP it worked fine.

All Pronto graphics should be in PNG format. Although a Pronto should process JPEGs and BMPs, it does not do so very well.

I'm not sure whether you're using stock backgrounds or trying to create your own, but I had a similar issue with my RU980 when I inadvertently created a background using 16-bit colour (would display in editor, but not on remote).
