Hi guy's,

i was wondering if anybody could assist in writing below script.

i have two RFX9600's, ill fill you in in the wiring.

Rfx9600(1) number 1:
Relay 1: Lamp
Relay 2: Outside Spot lights
Relay 3: Cabinet fans
Relay 4: Subwoofers

Current Sense 1: Foxtel Via Video sense (Xantech)
Current Sense 2: Topfield STB Via Video Sense (Xantech)
Current Sense 3: PS3 Via PS3 USB Port.
Current Sense 4: Downlights Via 12v transformer.

Rfx9600(2) number 2:
Relay 1: Zone 1 (family Room)
Relay 2: Zone 2 (Alfresco)
Relay 3: Zone 3 (master Bed room)
Relay 4: Spare

Current Sense 1: Conected to Relay 1 (Zone 1)
Current Sense 2: Conected to Relay 2 (Zone 2)
Current Sense 3: Conected to Relay 3 (Zone 3)
Current Sense 4: Spare.

i want create a if statement for foxtel say i was in zone 2 to check other zones and switch off if other 2 zones are off, ie:

SO....

If RFX9600(2).relay1=open(zone 1) & RFX9600(2).relay3=open(zone 3) & RFX9600(1).Currentsense1=True(Foxtel via Video Sense.)

Switch Foxtel off via IR

Else

Leave foxtel on.

Oviously i would need to send ir to every device.

Thanks
Daniel

danieljgor,

This may not be a simple if() statement, it may impact the foundations of the program.

When do you want to check system status? If someone uses a native remote (not the Pronto) or presses a physical button on another set-top box, do you want the Foxtel status updated immediately? Keep in mind that, when the Pronto is sleeping, nothing will execute. Or, do you simply want to update the Foxtel status when someone in another zone turns ON a set-top box using the Pronto?

As I have mentioned in other threads, I don't exert any effort turning set-top boxes ON or OFF because, in terms of power draw, there is little or no difference between ON and STANDBY (they never fully turn OFF) and absolutely reliable power management is difficult or impossible to achieve. At one point I had been sensing the switched outlet on the Motorola boxes, but in my area, the current Motorola firmware does not switch the outlet and replacement HIGHDEF boxes do not include a switched outlet. This means that, if the cable company replaces a box, the customer's Pronto system will stop working and may require hundreds of dollars of upgrades and reprogramming to restore the original function.

Typically, I do not provide set-top box user power command buttons or use power commands in my programs and I instruct the user to keep the set-top boxes turned ON. The only time that I have issues is if a visiting relative tracks down the set-top box and physically turns it OFF.

If a customer is over the top about set-top box "power", I'll mention that this is an extra cost option and they usually back down. In a few cases I have used the XANTECH sensors.

Hi Buzz,

On shut down (via icon) check to see if other users are on another zone before tuning off, WD Live, Foxtel & Cabinet fans.

i am not fussed about the power side of things, just my cabinet get very hot even with 4 X 120 mm fans....

Thanks
Daniel

danieljgor,

How would one know if someone was actively watching TV in another zone? Can you count on someone doing something detectable as they leave the room?

Are you creating am unconditional global system shut down function? (this is straight forward)

One technique that I have used in multi-room programs is to pop up a window when a user presses the power button. In that window I'll ask if this is a room shut down or a complete system (all rooms) shut down. Sometimes I'll include a set of ON/OFF buttons for the room's TV if the user tends to listen to cable music channels. The exact approach depends on how tech savy the user presents.

Personally, I will not have any time for this project for about a month. If you have not resolved the issue by then, bug me. I'll want a copy of your program to work with.
