Hi,

Just thought I'd advice that it's possible to add voice files to your configs.

Here's how I did it.

Using a program called Texttowav. Free from the internet.

Select voice Microsoft Anna

Type in the words you require, and save as

44KHz
16Bit
Mono

save the files to the sounds location in your version of PEP

ie. C:\PROGRAMDATA\PHILIPS\PRONTO PROFESSIONAL 3\SOUNDS

or equivalent.

I use the sounds for channel icons, which I feel gives a nice confirmation, and sounds better than a basic beep.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Lee

Hi Franin,

Just re-reading my post, I can't recall if mono or stereo is correct. Try both.

I'll check later.

Hi Frank,

I found that some of the words sounded a little odd, so you have to experiment with adding characters into words.

It's all good fun.

Pleased you like it.

Cannot get it to work...

The folder with sounds in my PEP2 directory under programs in Win XP (the only folder under philips I could find that is called sounds and contains wav files) contains 4 files, but the list of sounds available in the drop down in pep2 contains 7 and they have different names...

then also ATT natural voices as linked above produces 16khz sampling rate and pep requires 44.

so, it did not work when I tried saving the att natural voices file into that folder but for which of the above reasons (wrong location or wrong sampling rate?) ar is it for another reason?
