While adding a new model, by hand, myDatabase has shot itself in the foot and can't get up.

Any attempt to add or delete, or edit Component Functions is met with "The recent changes made are not saved into the Database." as I click Back to Component List. Oddly, changes to Component Properties are accepted.

At this point I can backup myDatabase, but I cannot restore it.

---

I managed to use the W7 restore function and after a reboot the new device was gone. I was able to add my new Component again and the first Function was accepted. I was able to go Back to Component List. I then added five additional Functions and the corruption returned. When the message pops up, I notice that the Duration for all of the recently added Functions is changed from Default to zero.

I'm using W7 64 Professional, PEP 2.4.23.0. Looking for suggestions.

---

More data:

I was able to add a Component from the Philips database and edit the existing entries. I tried adding a new Function and was successful -- for the first addition. The second addition failed as above.

Have you tried another install of PEP2 (on another compiter) and then import the exported database there?

To me it sounds more like a software than a database problem.

If the database in fact is damaged you could maybe solve the problem by finding and deleting the problematic entry, but you would have first to find it.

A tip, the pronto db is a standard db file. You can use a database software such as MS Access or http://sqlitebrowser.sourceforge.net/ (sql lite browser) to open and export it. Maybe you would be able to make some repairs also.

Recovery was messy. squlitebrowser could not find any issues. Eventually, I had to delete the component database, reinstall PEP2, and restore myDatabase from a slightly older backup. (and reload my library and the gallery)

Then it sounds like the database integrity was fine, it was the data in it causing issues.

Probably true, but unsettling. Since I don't know exactly what happened, it is likely I'll be facing the same issue again ... sometime.

I tried various combinations of restoring myDatabase and backup copies of componentdatabase. Even refreshing the install failed. I had to completely delete PEP2, including componentdatabase, and reinstall PEP2.

It is curious that adding five new IR codes was OK, but number six failed. This was true for a new device or adding codes to an existing device. It did not matter if I added the codes at one sitting or one at a time. Five was the magic number no matter how the task was sliced. It seemed like a table crossed over the line and that was the end.

It didn't take long for the phantom to return. I had one incidence of "The recent changes made are not saved into the Database" along with a memory corruption crash.

I rebooted the system. Now I can add entries, but they are not always properly sorted in "Component Functions". This is annoying, but no big deal. I've seen this before. The worrisome novelty is that I can delete functions, but after returning to the project, then entering myDatabase the next time, all of the deleted functions have returned. I can't seem to permanently delete anything.
