buzz check if your supplier enlisted you as an end user instead of a professional, that's what has happened to me.

Lowpro, I can see your point somehow and I understand how you feel. But offtopicing every thread about new features and releases is not a way to protest. This doesn't affect philips as this forum is not an official one, but it affects all of us "privileged" users, it makes it hard for us to discuss stuff without offtopics, that don't add value to the topic discussed.

Well, I´ve just read all the posts about Philips "unpolite" behaviour for weeks now - thought everything has been said - but with the posting of BluPhenix I tend to think it isn´t...

I certainly think that complaining about PE3 and the new firmware or any other upcoming version not being available for every Pronto user makes sense in every thread discussing this or that feature. You know why? Because you´re maybe right saying that this all doesn´t affect Philips at all ... But hopefully it starts affecting all you "privileged" users - as you called yourselves!! ... Because I tend to think that it should be your first duty to go on an generate some pressure on Philips to open up again!! ... Maybe they won´t hear the "unprivileged", but they, or their successsor, should hear the so called "professionals" ... and these "professionals" should think about again, who has been making them to what they are: Do you really think the Pronto series would have had such a big success if it would not have started with tools e.g. from Barry and mouth-to-mouth propaganda from sophisticated home-users? In my hometown I was the one to point three stores to these remotes which they sold for years but probably would never had known of without my "unprivileged home-user" person pointing their nose directly into the wind...

If all you "privileged" ones tend to think that it totally o.k. to keep out the DIY and that this will raise your business then I prophet you that you´re wrong ... and I´ll be laughting at you seeing all your business going away with people starting to think about real DIY and better community service etc. ... goodbye Pronto, hello iPad or others ...

You´re right that you are "privileged", but only in one term: You have the privilege that you´re maybe heard better from Philips than all us others - and therefor it should be your first step to make our voice heard through yours ... take pride in your "privilege" - use it! ... instead you take the "luxury" to stay silent ... think yourself what I call that - and think yourself what I call a person that calls himself a "privileged" one ... man, I am a "professional" myself in the IT-business, but I would never ever call myself "privileged" in front of the (DIY) users of my products - couldn´t think of any better way to loose my reputation and customers...

So - may be by "affecting the privileged ones" this will at some time start affecting Philips ... at least if these "privileged" ones start to think where their "privileges" really come from ...

Any yes - of course - I´m called a lurking member in this forum as I never did participate very much ... but why? Because I never needed! ... I did not need much help, neither did I bring up a big solution for others (I made some homepages about modding old Prontos years ago, but nothing for long time ...) ... And that´s again, why I cannot see the problem Philips does have with people like me? I should not bother them at all, should I? But if they would give me the smallest service I can think of (A download possibility for a software they allready build for their targeted "professionals" and I won´t ever call them for additional service) - well, maybe I would stay their customer and by another or the next remote ... If they - and all you "privileged" ones don´t want this - that´s o.k., you know, I can think of others to give my money to ;-)

Seems this had to get out of me after some weeks now ;-)

this is ridiculous, ive called so many resellers and no one is willing to give me a code, and 1/2 of them dont even know anything about a code. Can someone who has PEP3 just post it to rapidshare and give us the link or somthing, i dont understand the big deal with phillips screwing us, we paid good money for these remotes and now are not allowed to have the updated software.

I think you will be very disapointed in PEP3 in your not an installer, there are not that many differences between 2 & 3, PEP3 was designed for installers and users of the TSW9500.

If you have a TSW9500 then you will have the software.

The new firmware is still beta so thats why there is no access.

PEP2 is very very stable and so is the firmware..So im not sure why so many people are getting so upset :)

I have a copy of PEP3 but im still using PEP2 :)

Well, the issue is clearly the principle rather than the actual PEPv3 software (which, I agree, is only a minor update to v2).

In one of my earlier contributions to this thread, I noted that the autozoom function of the software doesn't work in v3. This is clearly a major problem for those of us with a 9400 who store widgets off screen. Anyone got a fix or workaround for this?

Just to clear one thing brixmaxx, you want us "professionals" to raise our voice in the name of you DIYers, when at the same time in your text you are full of hatred towards us? Maybe you have to rethink this way of yours.

I put "privileged" in quotes, you know, an "as if" word. Trust me, we're far from privileged. Yes we kept the login to the page, and got the new pep3, but for now, the pronto line is dead. I have 3 customers waiting for their pronto's and a lot of next year's projects are on hold, because we don't know yet if the pronto's will still be available next year, and we can not change remotes, because the budget doesn't allow us. Keep some projects too long on hold, and they go away. Privileged my a.. .

I will not argue with you about the other points, not here.

gopronto, about the stability of the software, did you read what the new rfx9600 firmware says? ;)

I just left a job were I had to learn a new Denon i.r. code. Every time I tried learning the code PEP3 crashed. Long story short I completely removed PEP3 from my computer and am sticking with PEP2 until further notice.
Also, I thought uninstalling PEP3 would restore my Gallery, Sounds Etc. back in PEP2 Wrong, I had to removed everything including PEP2 and did a "Fresh" install then copied all my graphics & custom WAV files back in... All is back to normal!!! Hope this helps anyone else I wouldn’t mess with PEP3 unless you really need to (TSW-9500) :)

Best Regards,
Joe

There's something more. All firmware that is needed for PEP3 is marked as Beta.

So i'll stick with joeh71's tip, even if you have access to PEP3 it is maybe better to stick with PEP2 for now, unless you really really need the stuff that comes with PEP3.

That's where I'm at. PEP V2 (including the remote/extender firmware) is very stable for me.... SJ

You will likely want that latest Extender firmware as they reportedly identified and fixed the issue with the Volume Ramping.

I personally have not had that problem since the last firmware update in July (where they indicated they fixed it). SJ

I regularly had the continuous volume ramping problem with my Denon amp via serial control.

This latest update did indeed fix the volume problem for me. I updated both my TSU9600's and RFX9600's firmware, but did not download new configs to them with PEP3. I still get occasional "command failed" messages though.

I just came from a job today that had the ramping problem TSU-9600 & RFX-9400 It was actually doing it while I was there so I updated to the latest firmware 7.4.2.2 & 1.4.8 (Did not re-load the program was done in PEP2 working fine when I left). Also, I have been running the latest firmware at home since it's release with no issues other than some command fails...
